Monday 10th December - Kickoff 8:00pm
Fulham
Fulham were thumped 0-3 by Spurs last weekend at Craven Cottage to leave them in 13th place. The West Londoners are only 4 points ahead of the drop zone and will want to make that 7 come 10pm on Monday evening.
Jol's side have lost 3 of the last 4 league games and haven't won in 6. The team has drawn a lot of games but really needs to get 3 points here as all of a sudden it's a relegation fight and not a top half finish that this team will be involved in come May.
At home it's successive defeats to Sunderland (1-3) and Spurs by a combination of 5 goals. In the previous week they did battle well against a tough Everton (2-2) to take a point but their last home win was over a poor Villa side (1-0) some 4 home games ago.
The blank to Spurs was the first in 11 home games here as Fulham normally have a lot of success in front of goal. In the last 5 at home Fulham haven't scored more than a single goal in any. The back line has struggled too with 8 goals against in the last 3 and 1 clean sheet in the last 5.
Newcastle United
Newcastle United beat Wigan 3-0 on Monday night to give them a really important win. The 3 points mean they move right behind Fulham in 14th place and like Fulham it's just 4 points from the bottom 3.
Pardew's side were on a 4 game losing streak before Monday's win. However, that game was marred by a very early sending off for Wigan and it's hard to say that Newcastle are "back" by any stretch of the imagination.
Away from home Newcastle come here having lost back to back games at Southampton (2-0) and Stoke (2-1). It's now 8 away games without a win since their big win at Chelsea (0-2) last season.
In 4 of the last 5 away games Newcastle have found the net and that looks good to hold up against a poor Fulham defence. However 6 of the last 8 home sides have scored 2 or more against Newcastle and that's a horrible statistic.
Betting Verdict
Fulham around even money seems a decent punt but it's hard to trust a side in such bad form. Likewise Newcastle's win last week was in my opinion because of Wigan's red card. Also both sides have lost the last 2 in the home/away splits so neither makes appeal in fixed/asian markets.
Instead I'm going to back both sides to score as all the stats point to both netting. Fulham have conceded 8 in the last 3 at home and Newcastle have scored in 5 of the last 6 away from home.
At the other end, Newcastle have no clean sheets all season with the home sides often scoring 2 against them. Fulham to score 2 was an option but they have struggled in recent games to get it going and I won't be greedy here.
Either side could go on and win this game but given our bet even covers 1-1 it's a no brainier with much less risk involved. Both to score it is.
Good Luck
