Match Preview :
Super Sunday sees Manchester City and Manchester United the top two sides in the Premiership battling it out in what seems at the moment to be a two horse race.
Roberto Mancini's Manchester City City emerged victorious in both Premier League encounters last season, winning 6-1 at Old Trafford and 1-0 at home before winning the title in the most dramatic circumstances on the final day.
Manchester City side are still unbeaten after 15 games and made a decent start to theit title defence but they trail United by three points going into this match.
Many have said it is now a two way battle for the Premiership title and no doubt the the head-to-heads between City and United could prove vital in the final outcome.
And with Mancini now able to fully concentrate on the Premiership after being knocked out of the Champions League and failing to even qualify for the Europa League even so there is no need to juggle the twin demands of Europe and domestic action any longer.
Manchester City's involvement in the Champions League ended with a 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in midweek, while they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton last weekend after a less then convincing performance.
Meanwhile, United were beaten 1-0 at home by CFR Cluj on Wednesday but were already guaranteed to finish first in their Champions League group so Sir Alex Ferguson was able to rest his key players ahead of this tie.
Manchester United overcame Reading 4-3 last weekend to pull clear of City and have been in good form all season, but it was yet another match in which they fell behind and Ferguson was not pleased at all with his team's defending.
And now his side will be up against the best defensive record team in the league, and no doubt Ferguson would be eager to inflict the first defeat on City in two years.
