West Ham United
West Ham United beat Chelsea 3-1 last weekend to move up into 8th place with 22 points. The Impressive win should install a lot of confidence in the side and in another home game on Sunday the Hammers will fancy their chances of back to back wins this time over Liverpool.
Big Sam's side were 3 games without a win and even fell behind to a Chelsea opener last weekend. However, they soon turned things around to win 3-1 and under the Sky cameras again they will definitely ask the Reds a lot of questions.
At home West Ham United are 4 unbeaten beating Chelsea and Southampton (4-1) whilst drawing with Man City (0-0) and Stoke City (1-1). In fact in 8 home games this season only Arsenal (1-3) has won here and that's excellent for a newly promoted side.
West Ham have failed to score just once in their 8 home games to City, averaging exactly 2 a game in the other 7. If they score 2 or more they will win this game given they have done so in all 3 occasions this season.
Liverpool
Liverpool made hard work of their win over Southampton (1-0) last weekend. Still a win is a win and the side has moved into 11th place with 19 points. The Reds now trail the top 4 by 7 points and they will fancy all 3 points in the late kickoff on Sunday afternoon.
Rodgers brings his side to Upton Park with 1 win in 3 but on the other side of the coin it's 1 loss in 10 games. Liverpool have been very draw happy this season with 5 of the 10 ending all square as Rodgers continues to develop his side.
Away from home Liverpool were 5 unbeaten before their loss at Tottenham (2-1) last time out. However, of the 5 games they won just once at Norwich (2-5) again with plenty of draws.
In 5 of the last 6 the side has scored at least 1 away goal but only 2 or more twice in the last 7. I don't think 1 will be enough here to win the game especially with the side keeping 1 clean sheet in the last 8 on their travels.
Betting Verdict
Liverpool are favourites for this game which is surprising. The Reds haven't won in 4 away games and the Hammers are off a huge win over Chelsea so this isn't a spot to back Liverpool for me.
I'm sticking with a both to score bet here as I expect this to end in a 1-1 scoreline. The draw appeals given Liverpool's 3 draws in the last 4 away from home but I'd like to keep both on side with the goals bet.
West Ham's last 5 home games have had both sides scoring in 4, only exception the 0-0 with Manchester City. Liverpool away from home has seen both sides netting in 5 of the last 6 again a 0-0 this time at Swansea the exception.
Normally these odds are quite short but not here and that might be because of no Andy Carroll/Suarez. The hosts scored 3 against Chelsea without him (Carroll) so I expect 1 at home agaisnt Liverpool. The visitors have options and I think their pace will hurt the Hammers on the counter. A score draw seems likely but it's a goal a piece for me.
Good Luck
