Huddersfield Town were beaten 2-4 at home to Leeds United last weekend to drop down into 15th place with 28 points. Thankfully due to the tight nature of this season's Championship Huddersfield remain just 5 points off the playoff places.
Grayson's side have struggled in recent weeks losing the last 2 games and remain winless in the league for 4 games. Their last win was away at Barnsley(0-1) back in early November and from a playoff position the team is in mid table.
At home it's no wins in 3 with back to back losses to Leeds and Brighton (1-2). The 2-2 with Blackburn the round before was a good point but this team needs to start to winning especially at home if they want a playoff push up the table.
Both sides have scored in 4 of the last 5 here and the same 4 games went over 2.50 goals. The hosts have scored 2 goals in 3 of their last 5 at home but at the same time conceded 8 in 3 so it's clear where the problems lie.
Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers lost 1-2 at home to Ipswich last time to leave them down in the bottom half of the table in 18th place. Their tally of 25 points is 10 above the drop zone and 8 off the playoffs so there is plenty still to play for.
Freedman's side were tipped to win the league but have found it tough going. He brings his side to Huddersfield win 1 win in 6 and thats got to change if they want to finish anywhere near the top 6 come May.
Away from home Bolton won at Blackburn 1-2 last time out to end a run of 5 games without victory. It's 3 games unbeaten now for Bolton with 2 draws and they will surely be targeting more points on Saturday.
The last 9 away games have ended with both sides scoring as defensively the team struggles to shut teams out. The home side against Bolton were on a run of scoring 2 goals which hit in 4 straight games. However, in the last Bolton have kept the hosts to a single goal but that elusive clean sheet still eludes them.
Scoring goals isn't a problem with 9 straight away games with a Bolton goal. In these 9, 4 of them have ended with 2 or more Bolton goals so the fire power is there for them to cause an upset.
Betting Verdict
I'm going to side with Bolton Wanderers here as I expect them to take something from the game.
Huddersfield have lost the last 2 at home and are winless in 3 on their own patch. Bolton's form is better with no losses in the last 3 away from home and the win at Blackburn was an impressive one.
If Bolton do take the points then I expect at least 3 goals in the game. Therefore I'm taking Freedman's side to win this game by a scoreline of 1-2 or 1-3 as I think Huddersfield's struggles defensively will eventually cost them.
Bolton are scoring plenty away from home and I can't see a one or two nil here. Both sides like overs and a fear is a score draw but for the price I'll roll the dice on Bolton to oblige.
