Match Preview :
Liverpool goes into this match seeking just their fourth win of the campaign when they welcome Southampton who will make the trip to Anfield after an absence of eight years.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers must take advantage of Southampton's position as they are in the relegation zone and get the three points in this match. The visitors have also won quite the same number of times as Liverpool had this season which is three times and have found it difficult to get wins this season.
Liverpool were beaten by Tottenham in midweek, and Rodgers was happy with the performance of his team as the final outcome did not indicate the level of performance his team is capable of and it is no denying that scoring goals remain their biggest problem.
And though six places separates these two teams but the fact that Southampton sit just four points behind Liverpool just goes to show that the gap is not that big between these two sides so Rodgers will be keen to quickly turn things around in Anfield.
The good news is that returning midfielder Lucas Leiva could provide more assist to Steven Gerrard and Joe Allen to go further up the field and at the same time providing more cover to Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling.
Meanwhile for Southampton, former Liverpool youth player Nigel Adkins hopes to have a good return to Merseyside with the Saints as they are unbeaten in their last four games which also included back-to-back wins and they are now just a point of going away from the relegation zone.
