Crystal Palace were very much second best against Hull midweek but they fought hard for a 0-0 draw. The point keeps them in second place with 37 points and they trail leaders Cardiff by just a point.
Holloway's side are winless in 2 having lost at Leeds (2-1) and Tuesday's draw at Hull. Thankfully for them they return home for this and hopefully for them it's back to winning ways.
At home the form is excellent winning the last 3 against Blackburn (2-0), Ipswich (5-0) and Derby (3-0). Prior to the wins the side is unbeaten in 8 straight now at home and they will fancy their chances of another win on Saturday afternoon.
The last 3 wins have been to nil plus they kept a clean sheet at Hull so all in all defensively the side is excellent. Scoring isn't a problem either with 10 goals in the last 3 at home so it's no surprise to see why Crystal Palace are so strong in front of their own fans.
Brighton
Brighton beat Bristol City 2-0 at home midweek to move up into 7th position with 31 points. The visitors are just a point outside the playoff places and with Palace winless in 2 they will fancy a shock here on Saturday.
Poyet's side play excellent football and remain one of the toughest sides to beat in the league. Brighton are 7 games unbeaten now with 3 wins and 4 draws which sets Saturday's game up very nicely.
Away from home the team is unbeaten in 3 drawing 2 and a win last time out at Huddersfield (1-2). Leicester is the only side to beat them in 8 away games so Poyet's high possession football is clearly working on the road.
The last 3 away games have had both sides scoring with 11 goals scored at an average of over 3.50 goals a game! Palace are tight defensively but this team will create chances and I expect them to notch at least 1 goal.
Betting Verdict
Crystal Palace are favourites to win and I can see why. The South Londoners are second in the league unbeaten in 8 at home and are on a 3 game winning streak.
However, the visitors can't be ignored as they have lost just once away in 8 and is riding a 3 game unbeaten run away from home. Palace has kept 3 home clean sheets in recent games but Brighton has scored 6 in the the last 3 away at an average of 2 a game.
The hosts will find the net of that I'm sure. Brighton has conceded in 5 of their last 6 away games but only once has the home side scored more than 1.
As a result I'm taking a prudent both teams to score which won't get us rich but I really want the 1-1 on side in this game. Both sides have goals in them and with Holloway wanting to get back to winning ways I see his side a little open defensively. Brighton should get a few players back from injury which will help and whilst a winner is likely this bet pays out for a 1-1 score and that's why I'm taking BTTS and not overs.
