Everton
Everton conceded a last minute equaliser at home at the weekend to blow a 1-0 lead. The draw with Norwich means the Toffees sit in 5th with 21 points and tail 4th placed Chelsea by 4 points.
Moyes's side has struggled to win games lately with 1 victory in the last 7 games. The good news is that there has been just 1 defeat (At Reading 2-1) over the same period which tells you the other 5 results have been draws. If Everton want to keep up with the top 4 they must start winning and stop chucking away 2 points each week.
At Goodison Park the last 6 have gone W-D-W-D-W-D with draws against Newcastle (2-2), Liverpool (2-2) and Norwich. The wins have come against Man United (1-0), Southampton (3-1) and Sunderland (2-1).
The side has scored in every home game at an average of just under 2 a game which is very good. At the other end, it's no clean sheet in 5 after their only clean sheet at home on opening weekend to Man United. Arsenal are an excellent attacking side so I imagine the hosts need 2 or more to win this game.
Arsenal
Arsenal wasted several chances on Saturday evening as they drew 0-0 at struggling Aston Villa. The point means the side is right behind Everton in 6th place with 20 points. A win for Wenger's men on Wednesday will see Arsenal overtake the Toffees potentially 2 points behind Chelsea.
Arsenal are 3 games unbeaten now having drawn 2 of the games. Wenger's side need to kick on if they are going claim a top 4 place as like so many around them they can't get on a 2-3 game winning run.
Away from home the team has struggled winless in 3 games now. Having lost at Norwich (1-0) and then Man United (2-1) the team stopped the rot drawing at Villa (0-0) last time out. Everton is a really tough place to visit so I'm expecting a much stronger performance from Wenger's side than in recent weeks. If not the hosts will surely take the points here.
1 goal in 3 away games is a huge concern but I feel with Wilshere back now and Carzola an excellent player that the goals will come. A positive is that they have scored 2 goals on their last visit to Merseyside at Anfield and let's not forget Arsenal haven't lost in 5 at Goodison.
Betting Verdict
I'm going against the grain here and backing the visitors not to lose. Arsenal as mentioned above haven't lost at Goodison since 2007 and I feel have what it takes to take at least a point.
Everton are hardly firing at home, they remain unbeaten yes but they draw a lot of games so to get that onside is a big plus for this bet.
Arsenal were poor at Norwich and not many win at Man United. However, they were unlucky not to win at Villa and lets not forget they drew at champions City and beat Liverpool.
The hosts are tough to beat at home but should be good for at least 1 goal. Noone has shut them out here and I don't see that changing on Wednesday. The Everton defence hasn't kept a home clean sheet since August and I think Arsenal are good for at least 1 themselves and ultimately they take something from the game.
I wanted to take a both to score but Arsenal not to lose bet but I couldn't find that bet anywhere. As a result for small stakes I'm going to dutch 2 correct scores 1-1 and 2-2. The Gunners are the stronger side but this Everton team is tough to crack and at prices I'm happy to roll the dice on this big payout.
Good Luck
