Manchester United
Manchester United made hard work of QPR at the weekend, going 1 goal down only fight back and win 3-1. The win puts them top a point ahead of rivals City. With another home game on Wednesday they can't afford to relinquish that lead and as expected go in heavy favourites for the match.
As expected Manchester United bounced back from defeats at Norwich and Galatasaray to beat QPR. The victory is their 6th league win in the last 7 which just that blip at Norwich to note.
At Old Trafford the side is excellent, 5 wins from 6 with Tottenham (2-3) the only side to take anything from here. So far the fixtures have been kind as only Arsenal (2-1) and Spurs have visited that are "strong sides".
The 3-1 win on Saturday maintains the excellent record of 10 straight games at home scoring 2 or more goals. Once again it's tough to envisage the Hammers slowing the United train and this should be a comfortable home win once again.
West Ham United
West Ham United were very poor at Tottenham on Sunday losing 3-1 and easily looked second best throughout. The defeat means Big Sam's side occupy 8th place with 19 points but most importantly it's 9 ahead of the drop zone which is huge.
The East Londoners come to Old Trafford having won just once in 5 league games. That win to be fair came at Newcastle (0-1) where the hosts created lots of chances but squandered all of them.
Away from home the last 4 games read W-L-W-L which is very good. One win as we know was at Newcastle with the other at QPR (1-2). The two sides to defeat them were Wigan (2-1) and Spurs (3-1) so all in all the Hammers can be quite happy with the recent away results.
It's 4 straight games where they have scored at least once now which is encouraging. However, defensively it's 1 clean sheet in the last 4 with the hosts averaging 1.50 goals against them. Unfortunately, I think if United scores 2 or more then this will ultimately end in a home win.
Betting Verdict
Manchester United are 1.25 shots to beat West Ham United on Wednesday evening and I think they will do so with quite a bit to spare.
The asian line is high at 2 goals and that doesn't interest me at all. If United concede needing a 4-1 win is asking a lot so I'll opt for the -1.50 line.
The hosts have covered this line in 4 of their 6 home wins whilst West Ham when losing away have lost by 2, 1 and 3 so 67% of their defeats.
Playing so soon after a London Derby can't help the Hammers here as United's superior squad gives them another edge. The hosts are playing at home in back to back games so that will help them over West Ham who went to Tottenham and now up north having played the day after the hosts.
Man United will win this game but I fancy a West Ham goal in a repeat of Saturday's result here. 3-1 to the league leaders.
Good Luck
