Malaga have been doing really well this season, breezing through their Champions League matches and are 5th in La Liga, just 2 points off Real Madrid. In midweek, Malaga followed up their excellent 1-0 home win over AC Milan with a 1-1 draw in Italy.

Real Sociedad are 17th, having lost 6 of their 10 games, and and are on an awful run of 4 losses and a draw since beating Athletic Bilbao. What's worse is that other than that 2-2 draw with Valladolid, they have failed to net, losing those 4 matches without even getting on the scoresheet.

That matches up badly against a tight Malaga defence that beat AC Milan here to nil, and has conceded just 7 goals in 10 La Liga games, less than double the 15 conceded by the visitors.

Also, Real Sociedad have been dire on the road, failing to win in 14 attempts. They have however averaged a goal per game, 10 scored through 10 games, but they are not spread out evenly, which has me scratching my head.

I think Malaga will win this, but the odds under 1.60 put me off. Malaga have won recent matches by a 1 goal margin, beating AC Milan and Valladolid here by the slimmest of margins and doing the same away to Cacereno.

So, do I bet on them to win by the 1 goal margin here, or do I try the AH and keep myself safer by giving up 1 ball, which might end in a voided bet if they win but only by 1?

BETTING VERDICT

I'm going to acknowledge the fact Malaga have been travelling in midweek, coming back from Milan with a hard fought point, and perhaps that affects them a bit.

It might affect Malaga enough for Sociedad to give them a fight but narrowly miss out. I'll take the risk and go with Malaga to win by just a 1 goal margin.
