Rapid Vienna hosted Bayer Leverkusen looking for their first points but as I said, they are the group whipping boys, and whipped they did get, losing 4-0 to give us an easy win on Bayer scoring at least 2 goals. I'm going back for another go at the team total.
Leverkusen had only scored 1 goal in the tournament before then, but it was enough to help them go to Rosenborg and beat them. The other match was a 0-0 draw with Metalist.
Vienna were without a win in 3 matches, including 2 defeats, conceding 5 goals and scoring just 1. After getting battered by Leverkusen they bounce back with a home win over Salzburg but then on their travels got beaten 2-0 by Sturm Graz. Bayer have not skipped a beat, and have some huge results since.
That rout of Vienna fuelled Leverkusen, who, in their next match, inflicted the first loss of the season on Bayern Munich, who had been on a tear. They did it away in Munich too, winning 2-1! After that, they returned home and continued scoring, beating Dusseldorf 3-2. There are questions to be asked of this defence (although I don't think Vienna are the team to do it) but up front, it's clear this attack can do damage.
The win is priced all the way down to accumulator prices, and the Over 1.5 goals is a similar price, but if you bet on Leverkusen to get 3 or more, you get a tidy 1.83 and that shall be my bet in what should be a win.
BETTING VERDICT
Take Bayer Leverkusen to score at least 3 goals. You might wonder about motivation, but I think with the defence showing signs of weakness they might try and score as many as possible to make sure they cover themselves.
Also, in their last EL match at home, the only in the Europa League so far, they drew 0-0 with Metalist, who they are tied with. With the likely win for Metalist over Rosenberg in the other match, Leverkusen will need to score enough to make sure they don't get done on goal difference.
