Juventus (1st W9 D1 L0)
It was no surprises when Juventus beat Bologna on Wednesday stretching their unbeaten run to 49, but the champions had to sweat a lot against 19th placed Bologna in order to pick up all points.
Juventus needed 92th minute header from Paul Pogba to clinch all three points against a stubborn Bologna side that had everyone behind the ball and looked to have held on for an important point.
The Bianconeri have now equalled Arsenal’s 49-match unbeaten run, so the only top European League record still beyond them is Milan’s 58-game streak under Fabio Capello.
Antonio Conte has no injury worries before this match, the only question is whether he’ll give another chance to Pogba to start the match in the midfield or he’ll prefer the more experienced Arturo Vidal.
Inter Milan (2nd W8 D0 L2)
Inter is currently second in the table on 24 points and will make the trip down to the Juventus Stadium hoping to end Juventus’ unbeaten run and also close the gap at the top of the table to one point.
The Nerazzurri are now on an eight-game winning streak in all competitions after the victory over newly-promoted Sampdoria in the midweek.
Stramaccioni used a four man defense against Sampdoria and conceded two goals, so it’s more than likely to see him switching back to a three man defense against Juventus.
Inter has a perfect away record this season in Serie A, winning all five of their away games and only conceded one goal in the process, last time around against Bologna.
There shouldn’t be surprises in the starting line-up, Milito and Cassano will play in front with Zanetti and Nagatomo on the flanks, but the two will be quite busy with their defensive duties, I’m not sure how much will they help in attack.
The Betting Verdict
This should be a thrilling game between the top two Serie A sides, one of them will surely put an end to a perfect either home record (Juventus) or away record (Inter Milan).
If the Bianconeri win this one as well, they will extend their lead to seven points which would mean a huge step towards defending their title. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see a home win, after all Inter lost their last three games in Serie A in Turin against Juve.
I backed Juventus when they’ve hosted second placed Napoli (at that time) two weeks ago, in what turned out to be a dull match decided by an 80th minute set piece. I expect a better show this time, Inter will surely put Juventus’ defense to test more often than Napoli did, so we should see some goals in this one.
