Chiajna has a surprisingly good run, at the beginning of the season they were considered among the teams that will fight to avoid the relegation, but it’s not the case so far.
Concordia currently sits on a remarkable 9th position with 18 points to their name. Former Steaua coach Ilie Stan managed to put together a decent team, despite losing three key players (all joined Steaua) in the summer transfer market.
Their latest success was obtained in Iasi against struggling CSMS Iasi, which was their third away victory of the season. It’s always difficult to win on the road in Liga 1, in fact no team has more than 3 away victories at the moment, so it is an impressive performance for Concordia to have collected so many points from their trips.
They are not bad at home either, only Universitatea Cluj managed to collect all points in Chaijna. They managed to hold Otelul Galati and Dinamo Bucuresti to a draw.
Rapid Bucuresti (8th W5 D3 L4)
Rapid is going through some difficult times, their coach was sacked after the 1-2 home defeat to Brasov last weekend, which means that assistant coach Rada will be in charge in the upcoming period.
The change has not brought anything positive for Rapid, they’ve lost the derby against Dinamo earlier this week despite taking the lead, so that makes it two defeats in a row.
Rapid sits on a disappointing 8th position and their European ambitions seem unrealistic at the moment, I can’t see them finishing on top 5 at the end of the season playing like this.
Attacking midfielder Felipe Teixeira is suspended for this match and didn’t made the trip to Chiajna, which is an important loss for Rapid, the Brazilian was probably their best offensive players this season, he has two goals to his name.
The Betting Verdict
Rapid looks tempting at these prices, but I wouldn’t touch them at the moment, especially with Teixeira missing out. They are decent in defense, but struggling creating goal scoring chances, they’ve only scored 3 goals in 6 away games this season.
Before the 1-0 victory over bottom placed CS Turnu Severin, Rapid recorded three consecutive games in which they’ve failed to score. The win against Turnu Severin was actually their only away success of the season.
Concordia also failed to score in 3 of their last 4 home games, but only lost one of those games. They’ve recorded goalless draws against Dinamo Bucuresti and Otelul Galati. Concordia’s home games only produced 10 goals this season, which is an average of 1.6 goals/match.
I initially wanted to take unders which looks like the safest bet for the match, but there’s not much value in taking it at 1.5-1.6, so I’ll go with either team not to score in this match between two toothless sides with decent defenses.
