These are difficult times for Universitatea Cluj, the team I support desperately needs some investors in order to stay “alive”, they can hardly pay the rent for the stadium at the moment.
Some German investors landed in Cluj this week and they seem serious, so for Universitatea’s sake I hope the deal will be finalized as soon as possible.
Even in these conditions “U” Cluj kept its head above water, with 14 points after 12 stages they are currently 12th, four points above the red zone.
Universitatea holds a decent home record (3-1-2), they’ve actually won more than 70% of their points when playing at home.
Otelul Galati (15th W2 D6 L4)
Otelul’s regress from the moment they’ve won the title and participated in the UCL group stages seems like hit a new low, they are now 15th on the table with just 10 points to their name.
The squad haven’t changed a lot, only two important players left (both to Vaslui), but the former coach failed to keep them motivated after winning the title.
New coach Viorel Tanase is trying to shake things up, he expressed his intention to change Otelul’s playing style to a more offensive one, but haven’t quit succeeded until now.
However, last round Otelul Galati recorded their first victory after a 10 games winless run. A 95th minute goal left the unfortunate Astra Ploiesti side without points a week ago.
The Betting Verdict
Both teams are going through difficult times, both will look upon one another to turn their fortunes around, but the draws seems like the most likely outcome, it would be a result that would satisfy both teams in my opinion.
It’s always difficult to call a draw, so I’ll turn my attention to the goals market. Universitatea scored at least once in each of their six games played at home, but only kept a clean sheet twice. Their defense is far from being solid, “U” Cluj conceded 22 goals this season, only two teams conceded more than them.
Otelul on the other hand has also been involved in matches which produced a fair amount of goals, both teams have scored in five of their six away games this season.
I’m only afraid of a goalless draw, if one of them score a goal then it’s unlikely they’ll also manage to keep a clean sheet, both sides have shaky defenses so in case of some pressure they are likely to break.
