English League Two
2012-10-27 - Dagenham & Redbridge vs Aldershot
A Sports Betting Pick by Lamps
Football : England : League Two
Saturday 27th October - Kickoff 3:00pm
Dagenham & Redbridge (DAG)
DAG's point in the midweek game with Exeter (1-1) leaves them in the bottom half of the table. Still's side are in 19th place and their points total of 15 points gives them a slender 4 point cushion over the drop zone.
The side responded well to the loss at York (3-2) with a draw at home to Exeter. The side has lost just once in 7 league games and if they can keep this form up they will only go in one direction, up the league table.
At home that draw above extends their unbeaten run to 3 games having beaten Wycombe (3-0) and Bradford (4-3) in recent weeks. That's 8 goals scored in the last 3 at home at an average of over 2.50 a game.
At the other end 5 of the last 6 visitors have scored at least once. The 7 goals conceded during this run is at an average of over 1 a game which isn't ideal when at home.
Aldershot
The Hampshire side ended their losing run at 6 games following their win at Southend (1-2) on Tuesday. The 3 points keeps them in 23rd but more importantly the deficit to safety is now only a point.
Holdsworth will be hoping that this win kick starts Aldershot's season. However, the last time they won back on 18th September they went on to lose 6 straight!
Away from home their record is poor with 1 win in 5. Before the win at Southend. Accrington (1-0), Torquay (4-3) and Gillingham (4-0) beat them easily. Last season they lost 5 straight away from home so it's not unusual to see them suffer blips on their travels.
Defensively 1 clean sheet in 8 away games is worrying. In this 8 game period the home sides are averaging over 2 goals a game which gives you no chance in any league.
Betting Verdict
DAG are around evens to win this game and it's tough to see Aldershot winning back to back games in 4 days after losing 6 straight. Aldershot haven't won back to back away games since February and I don't think this will change on Saturday.
The hosts are in good form entering this game but I prefer goals rather than a fixed odds bet. DAG's last 3 home games have seen 12 goals at an average of 4 a game. This visitors last 3 away have had 14 at nearly 5 a game!
Before conceding 1 at Southend, Aldershot conceded 8 in 2 away games so I don't trust them defensively. Going forward they have 5 goals in the last 3 away and DAG have conceded 4 in the last 2. The stats point to goals and even last year's game ended 2-5 to the visitors so I'm expecting at least 3 in this one.
Good Luck
The Pick :
DAG 3-2 Aldershot
