Oldham are struggling towards the foot of the League One table with 9 points from 9 games. That record is just good enough for 19th and they have just a 1 point margin above the drop zone.
Dickov isn't the most experienced of managers and his skill will really be tested this season. Recently this side snapped a winless streak of 4 game when they defeated Crewe (0-2). Hopefully they can kick on from that win and move away from the bottom.

Preston
North End are going much better in 7th place. Westley has finally got his team going and they are just 1 point off the playoff places. Away to a struggling Oldham may just be the tonic to get them into the top 6 come 5pm this evening.
Preston have won their last 2 league games and 3 of the last 4 to propel them up the table. In the last 2 games the side has scored 3 goals on both occasions and with the hosts struggling for goals at the minute it looks good North End ahead of the game.
Away from home they have won 2 of their 5 games but they have come in their 3. It looks like Preston have turned a corner away from home and having beaten Bury (1-2) and Doncaster (1-3) in recent weeks.
The last 4 away games have seen both sides scoring with 3 of the last 4 having over 2.50 goals. With North End scoring freely away from home and the hosts goal shy we may be set up for an away win this weekend.
Betting Verdict
In last season's game here the sides drew 1-1 and that's a runner for me this weekend. I prefer the visitors off a level ball start in this one as I don't see Oldham having enough to beat the visitors.
Preston are in great form lately winning a lot of games which can't be said about the hosts. They did end their winless run last time out but Preston are one of the stronger sides in the league and I favour Westley's side.
The fear is that Preston are conceding far too many and whilst the hosts don't have the best home scoring record 1 goal may be enough to take a point.
With a decent price off a level ball I will stick with Preston to just edge out the hosts.
