Siena travelled to Rome to face Lazio in the previous round, but they couldn’t take advantage of the home side’s difficult situation who were coming into the match on the back of two consecutive defeats and allowed them to pick up three points.
First half goals from Ederson and Cristian Ledesma put Vladimir Petkovic’s side ahead while Massimo Paci’s injury time strike proved nothing more than a consolation.
Siena will be looking to maintain their unbeaten home run, but it’s Juventus they’ll be facing so it will be too hard of a task for them. They’ve shared points with Torino and Udinese and beat Bologna on their previous home game.
Coach Serse Cosmi is likely to stick to his 3-4-2-1 formation with Emanuele Calaio as a lone striker. Matteo Contini has been ruled out for this match while Gaetano D’Agostino remains a doubt.
Juventus
Juventus dropped their first points on their previous travel to Florence, but they bounced back immediately with a 4-1 victory over Roma to keep their top position on the Serie A table.
Andrea Conte’s side will need to play better than they did against Fiorentina, the Viola side were unlucky not to convert their superiority into goals with Juventus being far from their best.
Shakhtar Donetsk also pointed out that Juventus can be vulnerable at times, the Ukrainian side put Juventus to work more than probably any other side from Seria A in a great match that finished undecided (1-1).
Leonardo Bonucci scored Juventus’ only goal against Shakhtar, but the defender will miss the trip to Siena due to suspension, so Lucio is expected to take his place.
The Betting Verdict
I doubt that Juventus’ 45 matches unbeaten run is at risk this weekend against a Siena side that started the season with decent results, but they don’t seem to have what it takes to cause an upset in this match.
Siena’s game revolves a lot around striker Calaio, but he may be too isolated as Siena will more likely be more concerned with the defense against a team with so much firepower. Siena will try to strike on counter attacks, but scoring against Juventus is always a difficult task.
In fact, Siena lost five of their last six home games against Juventus in Serie A, Juventus winning all these games to nil, three of them finishing 0-3 for the Bianconeri. Siena only scored in two of these team’s last 12 clashes in Seria A.
Juventus to win to nil can be found at 2.4 so that’s what I’ll recommend for this match. There are a lot of events during a match that could possibly ruin the bet, but Juventus looks solid against low rated teams and Siena is always struggling to score against them, so I think there’s value in this bet.
