Roma has been trashed last weekend by champions Juventus in Turin, conceding three goals in 19 early minutes that sealed the fate of the game.

Zeman’s sloppy defensive line keeps making huge mistakes, they’ve only kept one clean sheets in six games, conceding 11 goals in the process (only technically since they were awarded a 3-0 victory without playing). Only Chievo conceded more this season, 13.

Roma is yet to win a game at Olimpico this season despite facing opponents that are not rated as high as them, so the big games are yet to come.

Coach Zeman won’t be able to count on midfielder Miralem Pjanic who is out with an injury, but striker Pablo Osvaldo is back after he recovered from an injury, he even scored a goal against Juventus from penalty last weekend.

Atalanta

Atalanta suffered an even worse defeat last weekend at home against newly promoted Torino, conceding five goals in a match in which they’ve had a one goal advantage.

The Bergamo based team started the game well and looked threatening in attack before taking a deserved lead, but from that moment on everything went against them.

Atalanta will be trying to cause another shock after picking up all points at Sansiro against Milan on their first travel, but coach Colantuono is working in a very difficult situation given injuries and suspensions.

Lucchini, Stendardo, Manfredini, Bellini and Capelli are all unavailable which means that Colantuono will have to improvise in defense.

The Betting Verdict

Based on recent results laying Roma would be the logical play, but Atalanta is traveling to Rome with a crippled defense, Colantuono may even have to move Peluso from the left side to the centre of his defense.

Furthermore, Atalanta holds an awful record when playing in Rome, they’ve lost their last six game here against AS Roma conceding at least two goals in each of those matches.

Roma is in deep trouble and Zeman’s job may be in jeopardy, but Atalanta seems to be the best opponent to play against at the moment, Roma should find the strength to bounce back with a win here.

The odds for the home win are not attractive, so I suggest taking Osvaldo to score anytime, the Argentine striker already scored since he recovered from an injury and he seems to be the biggest threat for Atalanta’s goal being on the receiving end of most passes coming from Roma’s midfield. Osvaldo scored 11 goals for Roma in Seria A last season.
