This will no doubt be the Match of the Week as Newcastle welcome the visit of Manchester United to St James Park for the Super Sunday showdown!

These two sides have a classic rivalry between them and it will be renewed when they clashed on Sunday afternoon. However it has to be said that they have not yet gone four games without a defeat against the Red Devils since 1989. But you cannot blame Pardew for being confident as they have suffered just one defeat in their last 13 games at St James' Park, but they did lose at Manchester United in the Capital One Cup at the end of September.

Manchester United, meanwhile, will be like a wounded tiger after their historic home defeat by Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, although they did bounce back against Cluj in midweek in the Champions League thanks to Robin van Persie. That defeat was United's second of the season in the Premier league and they are already behind by four points to leaders Chelsea at the moment.

Wayne Rooney will hope to be recalld to the starting eleven as he has a good record against Newcastle United, scoring ten goals against them in the past. The other players who has a good record scoring against Newcastle are Paul Scholes who has likewise scored more goals against Newcastle than against any other Premier League opponent (9), while Robin van Persie has scored five goals in his last five top-flight starts against the Magpies with Arsenal.

Newcastle fielded a strong side against Bordeaux despite knowing they have a tough game against Manchester United to come. But Ba, Hatem Ben Arfa and Davide Santon remained unused substitutes which suggest they were being rested for the game against Manchester United and could be used.

Meanwhile, third-choice goalkeeper Rob Elliot sustained an injury against Bordeaux and had to be substituted for Steve Harper, while Tim Krul is still out with an elbow problem. Defenders Fabricio Coloccini (hamstring) and Steven Taylor (calf) and Ryan Taylor remain out of the side with injuries.

Manchester United Team News :
The likes of Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Chris Smalling are out with injuries. Meanwhile, Jonny Evans is described as 'okay', according to Ferguson after the centre-back only suffered a dead leg in the win over Cluj.

Players such as Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick did not travel to face Cluj, which suggest they could be used in this match. Paul Scholes also did not make the trip but he was only rested to suggest he could be involved in this match.
