PREVIEW
Sam Allardyce, the Walrus-faced c*nt, has seen his side play rather well on their return to the top flight. After 4 games they stand 8th, thanks to 2 very good wins at home. Away from home, they have drawn 0-0 at Norwich while Swansea beat them 3-0.
So, at home, they have picked up maximum points. Fulham were recently beaten here 3-0 while Villa were beaten 1-0 a while back. That's all well and good, but let's not forget a key fact, both of those sides do not travel well at all. Villa were beaten very early in the season when they were still not clicking and getting used to the new managers ways, while Fulham were doing poorly on the road as usual.
There is a few key stats here with Sunderland that are influencing the prices and keeping punters away from them - their failure to win any of their last 9 away games in the league. Also, Martin O'Neill, as good a manager as he is, has not managed more than 1 win at Upton Park in 8 visits with various teams, losing 5 of those games.
But I still give Sunderland a chance here. The season started slow with a 0-0 draw, but it was against Arsenal at the Emirates, and it's clear now what an accomplishment that is, to not concede there.
The Black Cats then travelled to Swansea and scored 2 to earn themselves a draw before being held to a 1-1 draw by a late Liverpool goal. This side, for me, is getting better. And of course, the fact remains they are still unbeaten after 3 games.
I don't think Upton Park is a fortress of any kind. Last season the team shipped enough goals in the Championship here and this season the fact they have gone 2 games without conceding at home only make me believe they are due and that Sunderland may well be the team to do it. In Steven Fletcher they have a very good scorer of goals, as he has bagged 3 already in just 2 games.
BETTING VERDICT
I think there are some outsiders that have to be taken simply because of value in their price.
Here we have such a team in Sunderland, but it's even better because there is the potential to score a win over a side that has only just come back up from the Championship and are due a loss at their gaff.
