PREVIEW
So Blackburn have not been beaten through the first 6 games of the Championship. The last time they went 6 opening games without defeat was almost 2 decades ago, when they won the Premier League.
Steve Kean got much abuse last season but I think it's been wonderful he's been left in charge, as he has overseen a very good start to their campaign to get promoted. His side have 4 wins from 6 games, with 2 draws. So far they have won all their home games, and I particularly love the way the side continue to rack up the goals, netting 14 in just 6 games.
That matches up well against Middlesborough, who have now lost all 3 away games this term. Over those 3 games they have shipped 8 goals, almost 3 per game. Their last match saw them hammered 4-1 by Blackpool, prior to which they took a 3-1 beating at Millwall. The Teesiders clearly struggle to even stay in games and the defence is not to be trusted.
There is a h2h stat here that shows draws in the last 3 meetings but these came a very long time back, too long to matter.
Blackburn at home will prove dangerous, especially since they were a bit sluggish in their last game, a 2-1 win over Barnsley, where we lost a bet on the home side netting at least 3. Blackburn previously scored 5 against Bristol City and 3 against Leeds before that, so I know the firepower is definitely there. Nuno Gomes is the man in form, having scored in each of Blackburn’s last 4 league matches to lead his teammates in goals scored.
BETTING VERDICT
I'm a bit concerned of course about the fact Blackburn let in goals too. They conceded here against Barnsley, and let in 3 each against Bristol City and Leeds, so it's not like Middlesborough don't have a chance. Still, I like Blackburn for the win, and to score a few goals here, at least 2.
There is one bookie that is offering 2.00 on Blackburn to score at least 2, so jump on that early.
The Pick :
Blackburn Rovers to score 2+ goals
