A Sports Betting Pick by Lamps

Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield Town
Football : England : Championship
Wednesday 19th September - Kickoff 7:45pm

Sheffield Wednesday

Some of the early game momentum has gone for Wednesday as they are adjusting to life back in the Championship. 7 points from 5 played is good enough for 14th place but a win on Wednesday can send them to as high as 6th.

Dave Jones has done a very good job since taking charge and his side started the year well with an away point at Derby (2-2), followed by back to back wins at home to Birmingham (3-2) and Milwall. Unfortunately it's back to back defeats both on the road at Palace (2-1) and Brighton (3-0).

At Hillsborough this team is very strong as both league wins have come here. Wednesday also beat Premiership Fulham at home in the League Cup so under the lights in a midweek game should really help them on Wednesday.

Including the League One campaign it's 13 games unbeaten for Wednesday at home with 11 ending in home wins. Interestingly, despite keeping a lot last season Wednesday haven't kept a home clean sheet this and as the season goes on that might be a worry.

Huddersfield

10th placed Town are a point better off than their opponents on Wednesday night. Grayson like Jones is doing well with his newly promoted side and so far they are holding their own this season.

Since losing at Cardiff on opening night Huddersfield have remained unbeaten in 4. The Terriers have won 2 and drawn 2 but have scored in all 4 matches.

Like Wednesday both wins have come at home but have been able to hold sides away to. The loss at Cardiff was a stoppage time winner but no one can say that they didn't deserve a point at Forest in an exciting 2-2 draw.

A concern for Huddersfield is the lack of clean sheets. Grayson's side don't have one in the division as of yet and up against a side with 6 goals in 2 home games that doesn't look like changing in this game.

Betting Verdict

The 2 sides have met 4 times in the last 2 seasons in League One with Huddersfield winning 3 and Wednesday 1. In the last 2 at Sheffield we have seen a 4-4 draw and an away win (0-2) so Town won't be afraid when visiting Hillsborough.

A negative about these results is that Rhodes was in the team but he's gone now and that leaves a big void going forward. Thankfully the hosts have been shipping quite a few goals themselves in recent weeks and I expect both teams to get a goal in this game.

Overs really tempted me in this one but a 1-1 draw could suite both. The visitors continue their good run and Wednesday stop a 2 game losing streak. I can't ignore how open Jones's side are at home and prefer to play in shootouts than controlling the game. As a result both to score seems a sensible play.

The overs is obviously a better price but given the lack of Wednesday form most likely needed to take this over. I expect 2 goals in a 1-1 draw here.

Good Luck

The Pick :

Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Huddersfield Town
