Leicester City will be looking to bounce back with a win when they return to their King Power Stadium on Wednesday night following their midlands derby loss at Wolves on Sunday.
Leicester City
Despite losing 1-2 at Wolves, I was impressed with Leicester’s quick movement and passing and they looked menacing every time they went forward which culminated in an absolute block-buster from Paul Konchesky whose goal must surely be amongst one of the candidates for goal of the season in the Championship.
The Foxes will be glad to return to familiar surroundings nonetheless as they’ve managed a 100% record there thus far with wins over Peterborough United 2-0 which was probably expected and a 1-0 victory over Blackpool which they’ll take every day of the week!
Leicester have various players that are potential match-winners in the guise of strikers Jamie Vardy, David Nugent and Jermaine Beckford along with midfielders Ben Marshall and Antony Knockaert who replaced the injured Lloyd Dyer on Sunday and looked a very good signing by manager Nigel Pearson. Andy King looks set to miss out due to injury.
Burnley
Tonight’s visitors Burnley ended a three match run of straight defeats with a resounding 5-2 home win over hapless Peterborough United at the weekend, but The Clarets also have their problems away from home just like The Posh. Burnley have lost both of their away matches so far which were 2-3 at Middlesbrough and a 0-2 loss at Huddersfield Town.
It’s actually just two wins from their last eleven on the road if you take into account last season’s results at the latter stages, and Eddie Howe’s side really need to improve their away form if they are to even figure in the play-offs this time around.
That said, Burnley will always score goals and with striker Charlie Austin (4 goals, 2 assists) and Junior Stanislas (2 goals, 2 assists) along with midfielder Chris McCann pulling the strings, they will cause problems for sure. On the flip-side of course, is Burnley’s lack of defensive cohesiveness as their 2 clean sheets in eleven away matches testifies.
The Betting Verdict :
Leicester City should be too strong at home for travelling Burnley here tonight and I’ll back them for the straight win with perhaps a 2-1 scoreline.
The Pick :
Leicester City 2-1 Burnley
