Match Preview :
This will be Malaga's first ever Champions League match but their coach Manuel Pellegrini expect his side to give their best against Zenit St Petersburg. Malaga who finished fourth last season in La Liga play host to Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday on the back of a run of four wins and two draws from their six competitive fixtures so far this campaign.
And despite their well-publicised financial problems Pellegrini has urged them to carry on doing what they have been doing on the pitch. The coach has stated that playing at home gives them the advantage and they are capable of getting the win at home. The other teams in Group C are seven-time European champions AC Milan and Anderlecht.
Meanwhile, Milan and Zenit are considered favourites to top the group, with Malaga just behind, but Pellegrini insists Anderlecht should not be taken lightly as he used the example of Villarreal a club he used to coach as an example. He also stated that Zenit are the Russian Champions twice, and really strengthened their squadcomin into this tournament.
As for the visitors, Zenit ead to Spain in mixed form having picked up just four points from their last four league games, with their most recent result seeing them lose 2-0 at home to Terek Grozny on Friday. Zenit coach Luciano Spalletti gave big-money summer signings Hulk and Axel Witsel their chance to feature in that match, along with Renat Yanbaev. Going into this match however, Witsel is unavailable though due to a hamstring injury while Yanbaev is not registered.
