Blackpool are down a place following their draw at the weekend. Still second place with 10 points from 5 is excellent and at home on Tuesday Holloway's side have a good chance of making it 13 pts from 6.
The Tangerines were held at Barnsley at the weekend but Oakwell is a very tough place to visit so I think come May that's a good point. Thankfully they are back at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday where so far we have seen them at their explosive best.
Blackpool have won both home games this season beating Leeds (2-1) and Ipswich (6-0). Going back into last season it's now 5 wins in a row at Bloomfield Road by an aggregate of 15-1! Of the 5 wins all but 1 have been to nil and 3 of the 5 have gone overs despite the away sides not scoring.
The only negative is that it's now 2 games without a win for this but both were away and in the Leicester defeat it was a very soft penalty decision that went against them. With Blackpool back at home I think we will see a backlash from them on Tuesday.
Middlesbrough
Mowbray's Boro have a point less than their opponents with 9 from 5 games played. That's good enough for 7th place but a win could see them go top of the table if other results go their way.
9 points have come from 3 wins all at home against Burnley (3-2), Palace (2-1) and Ipswich (2-0). However in both the away games it's 2 losses for Boro with Barnsley (1-0) and Millwall (3-1) the victors. I said above that a point at Barnsley is a good point and I'm sure Mowbray wishes his team got that much in their encounter on opening day.
Going back into last season it's now 3 away defeats in a row and 4 in 5. They did win the game that wasn't lost at Derby but this was their only away win in 9 so something is very wrong with this side on their travels.
Betting Verdict
Blackpool have a very good head to head with Boro winning the last 2 here at Bloomfield Road comfortably (3-0) and (2-0). The visitors have scored in 7 of their last 8 away games so I think they are good for 1 on Tuesday even if the head to head disagrees.
The Tangerines at home have won a lot of games to nil but their open attacking nature may leave them vulnerable to the counter here. I really wanted the hosts at evens here but that price is gone with most firms giving us 1.91.
Instead I'll go with overs, Blackpool when in the mood cover this by themselves. Boro have to come good away from home eventually, their side is too good not to start delivering and if they get 1 this should sail over.
A likely scoreline is 2-1 or 3-1 to the hosts but given the unpredictable nature of this league I'll give the visitors some credit and if they score we should see a minimum of 3 goals here.
