Fourth placed Exeter City have a good opportunity to improve on their home record when they entertain 20th placed Wycombe Wanderers at St James’ Park on Tuesday night.

The Grecians’ current league position is actually largely thanks to their 100% away record where they’ve recorded wins at Aldershot Town, Accrington Stanley and Oxford United, and it’s time that they transferred this kind of form in front of their home fans.
A 0-3 loss to Morecambe was followed by a 3-0 win over Burton Albion, and at the weekend they could only manage a 1-1 draw to York City which is perhaps a little unfair on York as they still remain unbeaten on the road having been promoted from the Blue Square Premier.
Back to Exeter then and scoring goals have not been a problem for them in the early stages of this season; former Norwich City forward Jamie Cureton (5 goals, 1 assist) is rolling back the years and if he can get close to his 17 goal haul that he achieved season before last for Exeter in League One this term, then they have an excellent chance of being in the play-off mix or even promotion later on.
Former Barnet forward John O’Flynn (3 goals, 2 assists) is also capable of getting on the scoresheet while midfielder Liam Sercombe has provided most of the ammunition with 4 assists.
Wycombe Wanderers
Wycombe Wanderers were also relegated from last season’s League One, and have continued that losing feeling (or at least not winning feeling) into this new season and it’s just one league win in their last thirteen matches (League One & Two combined) as The Chairboys look to climb away from further relegation danger.
Obviously talk of relegation is premature at this stage but here they are looking to avoid a third successive away defeat following losses at Southend United 0-1 and a 1-3 loss at Chesterfield at the weekend.
Wycombe’s main problem is a lack of goals away from their Adams Park ground and this could once again haunt them at St James’ Park on Tuesday night with none of their strikers really firing at the moment.
The Betting Verdict
Exeter have a great chance of getting all three points at home tonight especially considering Wycombe’s continued poor form, so I’ll back the hosts at just under evens – a 2-0 home win for Exeter City.
