Getafe have made a decent start to the season, with a big scalp to show once again. Last season they beat Barcelona 1-0 here. Well, this year they have already beaten city rivals, Real Madrid, 2-1 here.
That win was an improvement on their season opener, a 2-1 loss at Seville, and the last match they played was a 1-1 draw away at Deportivo La Coruna that sees them sitting 10th. With the bulk of the Barcelona squad only just back from international duty, fatigued and distracted from their club form, perhaps this is the best time to try for another big upset?
Barcelona have started with 3 straight wins, although they got less dominating each week. A 5-1 home win over Real Sociedad was followed up with a 2-1 win away at Osasuna. Then came that narrow 1-0 win at home over Valencia. Still, 9 points from 9 is perfect, and with 6 goals, Messi is right back where he belongs, at the top of the goalscorer table.
Barcelona may have to rest some players as they will be exhausted from international duty, but one player that will be back is Puyol, who had been injured. The team will be missing Iniesta though, along with Sanchez, both injured, while the coach, Vilanova will be serving the final suspension as he was banned for 2 games.
I've seen some good performances so far from Getafe, who may frustrate Barcelona a bit. If you look at the odds, Barcelona are odds against to score more than 2 goals. I feel Getafe have at least a goal in them and they could well stop Barcelona from running riot. They have managed that against Barcelona just last year and this year a couple of weeks back they did it to a very good Madrid side.
The public will be all over the -1.5AH on Barcelona but I think we can buck that and look at Getafe to keep it to a 1 goal margin loss, at worst. Or, we could take both sides to score at the same price.
BETTING VERDICT
I think I'm going to go with both sides to score, just in case Barcelona are winning by just 1 and Getafe blow our bet by chasing it and conceding a late goal.
