So Penn State got beaten last week but the result means the line on Virginia, who won their opener, is too high. The spread is sitting at 9.5 and I think the Nittany Lions are the play here with a boatload of points against a mediocre side.
Don't forget that Penn State led 14-3 at HT against the Ohio Bobcats. Think about it, just 3 points allowed the whole first half, 2 quarters. That's not unimpressive. They collapsed, yes, losing 24-14 but they are still much better than what the oddsmaker and the public are rating them.
Virginia thrashed Richmond 43-19 but then their opponents were rubbish so I don't rate that result that much, certainly not enough to make them almost double digit favs for this game!
I still think there are question marks over this Virginia secondary that frankly did not get tested last week by Richmond. Penn State are itching for their first win and to be dogged by this much as a massive insult that will have the visiting team giving it all to defy the odds.
We don't even need them to win, just to fight all the way to the end for pride. They will.
