English League One
2012-09-08 - Crewe vs Tranmere
A Sports Betting Pick by Lamps
Football : England : League One
Saturday 8th September - Kickoff 3:00pm
Crewe
Gradi's Crewe are nicely placed in 10th with 6 points from a possible 12. The side has a symmetrical 2 wins and 2 defeats record and it's easy to why given the attacking nature of the side. More often than not in recent times their games get stretched and Saturday's game at home to Tranmere looks no different.
It's 7 games since Crewe's last draw in all competitions and now they host top of the tree Tranmere. So far Crewe have lost to Notts County (1-2) and to Brentford (5-1) with the latter a real hiding from start to finish.
They have recorded good wins over Scunthrope (1-2) and Coventry (1-0) and it's now 3 wins in their last 6 overall in all competitions. The home form is very good with 1 loss in 17 but we must remember the majority of these games are in League Two and already after just 2 at home they have lost 1 in this division.
Tranmere
Top of the tree Tranmere have made the perfect start to the season taking 10 points from 12 having dropped points in just 1 game this year. On Saturday they visit promoted Crewe who have yet to draw this season so an open game is expected and the 3 points are a real possibility.
Moore's side have recorded wins over Orient (3-1), Carlisle (0-3) and Colchester (4-0). As we can see when things click for this side they really put sides to sword and have a lot of goals in them. The only game that they have failed to win was 1-1 away to Shrewsbury which is surprising given they were promoted into League One this season.
Away from home Tranmere are not known for being a strong side. Despite their sole win this year at Carlisle, Tranmere have just 3 wins in 18 going back into last season.
A good sign of improvement for Moore's men is that it's now 4 straight games that they have found the back of the net when on their travels. The Crewe defence as documented isn't the best and it bodes well for them that they have discovered their scoring touch away from home.
Betting Verdict
Both sides are odds against in this one and naturally I like Tranmere given their quotes. I particularly like this price given their confidence right now and their scoring ability. However, Crewe could surprise and are good for goals themselves as a result I will opt for the goals market in this game rather than the fixed odds.
As mentioned above when Tranmere win they win big and so far we have seen 21 goals in 7 games at an average of 3 a game for the visitors. The home side have gone over 3 of their 4 league one games and after watching their loss to Brentford I expect the visitors to get chances in this one.
The prudent play is both to score but at a much bigger price I will side over 3 or more and expect to see an open game of football. If forced I'd back Tranmere draw no bet but there is no need to get involved in that market.
Good Luck
