English League One

2012-09-08 - Yeovil Town vs Bournemouth

A Sports Betting Pick by Auls

Yeovil Town v Bournemouth
Football: English League One
Saturday 8 September 2012 - Kick Off 3pm

Yeovil Town

The first key for Yeovil Town this season is making sure they are still a League One team for next season, but their start to the season would have surprised everyone outside of their management and playing staff as they remain unbeaten in the Division.

Yeovil have picked up 10 points from their opening 4 games in the League, although they did suffer an entertaining 2-4 home loss to West Brom in the Capital One Cup. There were enough positives to take away from that loss and they are 2nd in League One and have a 1-1-0 home record so far.

The team have only lost 1 of their last 7 games in League One and they have only lost 2 of their last 12 games at home in the League. Of those 12 games, Yeovil have won 8 and goals have not been in short supply as they have scored 22 goals in that run.

Jamie McAllister has been suspended for the next three domestic games beginning with this one and Gavin Williams is still doubtful with a calf injury.

Bournemouth

A lot of people would have been wondering what Harry Redknapp was going to do after being sacked as manager of Tottenham Hotspur and missing out on the England job, but not many would have predicted him going back to Bournemouth, one of his former clubs. Redknapp has been employed in a consultancy role at the club and it will be interesting to see how the players on the pitch respond.

Many predicted the side to be fighting in the top half of the table, but it has been a tough start to the season which has left Bournemouth in 19th place in the Division with just 3 points to their name and yet to win a game this season. They are 0-1-1 away from home in the League and were also knocked out of the Johnstones Paint Trophy during the week at Portsmouth on a penalty shoot out.

Bournemouth have only won 1 of their last 8 League One games going back to last season, although it has to be said that they have only lost 2 of those games. It has been even harder for them on their travels as the side have failed to win any of their last 12 and have lost over half of those games including a 5-3 loss at Sheffield United last weekend.

Eunan O'Kane is ruled out as he will be on international duty and Charlie Daniels is a doubt with a hamstring issue.

Head to Head

Yeovil Town were comfortably beaten 1-3 by Bournemouth in this fixture last season and have now won just 1 of their last 5 home games against them.

Bournemouth are unbeaten in the last 7 games against Yeovil in all competitions.

Prediction

I think the home side are the favourites on their start to the new season, but I am going for the third game to finish with at least 3 goals scored as both are probably better going forward than they are defensively.

Yeovil Town have scored and conceded in every home game they have played this season, as have Bournemouth in every away game. It has also to be said that Yeovil's last 16 home games has seen at least 3 goals in 14 of them in all competitions.

Neither side will see this as a game where a point is considered a good result (at the outset, I mean of course it's a good result if someone comes back from 3-0 down) and I think both sides are going to be pushing forward for the three points.

It's another game where I expect both sides will score at least one goal and I will then look for someone to go ahead and get the winning goal.

The Pick :

Yeovil Town 2-2 Bournemouth
