2012-09-07 - Kazakhstan vs Republic of Ireland
A Sports Betting Pick by Lamps
Football : Internationals : World Cup Qualification
Friday 7th September - Kickoff 5:00pm
Kazakhstan
The home side are some what of the whipping boys in most qualification groups. Coach Beranek has virtually no chance of making the finals in Brazil but they be able to shock 1 or 2 sides during this campaign. If they are to cause a shock their best chance is at home at the Astana Arena on their unconventional artificial pitch.
With just 2 wins in the last 15 games it's no surprise to see the hosts as big underdogs for this game. The wins came against Kyrgyzstan (5-2) in a friendly back in June and against Azerbaijan (2-1)a Euro Championships qualifier.
It's no surprise both wins were at home and the side is now unbeaten in the last 4 when playing on their own turf. The negative is this record is against Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Austria and Syria of which only the draw to Austria is of any creditability. Against the Irish they are likely to struggle and it's hard to see them holding their opponents on Friday night.
Republic of Ireland
Trapattoni's Ireland disappointed at the European finals failing to win a single game and 0 points with a -8 goal difference is one of the worst of all time. Thankfully this is a new competition and a chance to re-qualify for another major tournament and put right that poor showing.
A concern ahead of this game is that the visitors may be low on confidence. The last time this side won a game was back on 26th May some 6 games ago at home to Bosnia. Going further back the last away win was in Estonia in November 2011 so this side has hardly been firing on all cylinders of late.
The 5 game winless run does include some tough Euro finals games against Spain, Italy and Croatia. But draws to Serbia and Hungary (both didn't qualify for finals) both away are decent but hardly impressive. If Ireland want to qualify for more tournaments they need to win more away games to sides like these and especially against Kazakhstan.
Betting Verdict
Ireland haven't scored in their last 3 games but did score in 4 of their 5 away games when qualifying for the Euro Finals. In that campaign Ireland scored at least 2 at Andorra, Estonia, and Macedonia whilst getting just the 1 at Slovakia and Armenia.
I'm sure this side will get at least 1 on Friday given the hosts have conceded 14 in their last 7 and that's including games against Kyrgyzstan and Armenia!
I think Ireland learnt a lot last time around winning at places like Kazakhstan and Trapattoni is very experienced having won similar games with Italy.
I'm going to take Ireland to win this game by dutching a 1 and 2 goal margin on Bet365. By 1 goal is 3.75 and by 2 is 5. This equates to a 2.14 bet which is much better than the 1.80 on offer for a straight away win.
If Ireland win this won't be massive and a workman like result seems the most likely here.
Good Luck
