It’s a trip to Edgar Street next where we look at Hereford United taking on newly promoted Woking on Tuesday night with the hosts looking to bounce back with a home win here.
Hereford United
Hereford United won their opening fixture in the Blue Square curtain-raiser against fellow relegated Macclesfield Town 2-1, and some were making early predictions of an instant return to the football league for The Bulls, particularly when they drew 2-2 at Tamworth then recorded back-to-back wins against Alfreton Town and Ebbsfleet United respectively.
However, this is one of the most competitive leagues outside England’s top two tiers and they’ve recently experienced two defeats on the trot losing 0-2 away at league leaders Newport County and a 0-2 reverse at home to Grimsby Town at the weekend which was a bit of a surprise.
Manager Martin Foyle will be rallying his troops to bounce back quickly and they won’t have a better chance than against tonight’s opponents who have lost all three of their away matches so far.
Forward Sean Canham and winger Morley Watkins are the ones to watch with early form (3 goals, 2 assists each), and they should possess too much for Woking tonight.
Woking
Tonight’s visitors, Woking, similar to Hyde, have found life very different coming up from the Blue Square South. However, they appear to be comfortable at home having beaten Dartford and Barrow in quick succession, but it’s their away form that looks likely to provide money-making opportunities.
Three losses on the trot at Wrexham, Forest Green and Mansfield Town (a tough baptism of fire, granted) all by 1-3 scorelines, and you have to think that if Hereford are worth their salt in terms of claiming to be automatic promotion candidates, then they should also put Woking to bed in similar fashion.
Joe Mcnerney and Bradley Bubb are the leading scorers with 2 goals apiece, with midfielder Lee Sawyer chipping in with 2 assists. Experienced midfielder Kevin Betsy also has league experience with Wycombe Wanderers and Southend United, but their defence is looking very susceptible at the moment.
The Betting Verdict :
Hereford need a win to put them back in contention with the early leaders in the division, and given Woking’s poor run of form of late on the road, I’ll back the Bulls for a 2-1 win here tonight.
