Lazio qualified to the Europa League group stages after a tie against a modest side called Muria and they’ve been drawn in Group J where they’ll face some tough opponents like Tottenham, Panathinaikos and Maribor.

The Biancocelesti had a tough fixture in the first round of Seria A against Atalanta, but thanks to an early goal from Hernanes, Vladimir Petkovic’s side secured an important away win.

I have to say I like this Lazio squad, it looks solid, they haven’t made any substantial changes in the summer transfer period so I consider them a team worth betting on this season.

Petkovic will use a 4-3-3 system with Mauri, Klose and Candreva in front supported by influential midfielders Hernanes, Ledesma and Gonzalez.

Palermo

Despite being known as a solid side when playing at home, Palermo suffered a severe defeat in the opening day losing 0-3 to Napoli.

Palermo managed to hold on for 45 minutes as the match got off to a slow start, but Hamsik, Maggio and Cavani all scored to secure Napoli a deserved win.

If Palermo continues losing games at home I can see them being involved in the relegation battle, last season they were saved by the 10 home victories which compensated their disastrous away record (one win, seven draws and eleven defeats).

Brienza will be out for a couple of weeks with an injury, which means that Slovenian Jasmin Kurtic will take his place in the center of their midfield.

The Betting Verdict

Palermo have failed to win 18 of their last 19 away matches in Seria A so that’s not something that would recommend them before a game against Lazio in Rome.

I don’t think tiredness is a factor worth to consider here, the game against Mura in the Europa League was more like a training session with fans, it was well known all along that Lazio will be the ones to progress.

Lazio should be strong enough to secure all points here against a side that were so poor last season on the road and also started the season with a disappointing home performance against Napoli.
