English League One
2012-09-01 - Crawley Town vs Leyton Orient
A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football – England – League One
Saturday 1st September 2012 – Kickoff: 1500hrs
Seventh placed Crawley Town take on second from bottom Leyton Orient at their Broadfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the Red Devils look for their second successive home win which could take them top of League One.
Crawley Town
Crawley have started with two wins and a loss with wins over Scnthorpe United 3-0 and Doncaster Rovers 1-0 but suffered an away loss at fellow League Two promotees Swindon Town 0-3, but they have a great chance to add to their home win tally when Leyton Orient come to town with no points to their name.
Crawley have continued on their merry way having come up from League Two and they have a thirst for scoring goals which they do on a regular basis. At home in last season’s League Two promotion campaign, Crawley scored a total of 47 goals only second and 2 goals behind Swindon Town’s haul of 49.
Former Millwall striker Gary Alexander is the early leading scorer with 2 goals while Hope Akpan has supplied 2 assists so far.
Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient travel to Sussex still in search of their first points of the new League One season and The O’s sit second from bottom separated only by goal difference with bottom club Scnthorpe United.
The visitors started the season in positive fashion by dumping out newly promoted Championship side Charlton Athletic in the first round of the Capital One Cup on penalties, but since then they’ve suffered straight losses at the hands of Tranmere Rovers 3-1 and a 0-1 reverse at home to Stevenage.
To make matters worse they endured a 0-5 demolition at Everton in the second round of the League Cup and it’ll be interesting to see what effect this midweek defeat has on them this Saturday.
It’s worth pointing out at this stage that Leyton Orient have lost their last five away matches on the trot having conceded 13 goals and scoring just 3.
Goals at the right end for Leyton Orient could be their Achilles heel this season and they could be overly reliant on the likes of ageing striker Kevin Lisbie and forward Michael Symes to dig them out of trouble one too many times I fear.
The Betting Veridct :
I’ll back a confident Crawley Town at home against a visiting Leyton Orient side whose morale must be quite low at the moment; a 2-1 win for The Red Devils.
The Pick :
Crawley Town 2-1 Leyton Orient
