Venue: "Renato Dall'Ara", Bologna
Saturday 1st September – Kickoff time: 19:45 GMT+1
Bologna
The opening day turned out to be disappointing for Bologna losing on the road against Chevio in a match that ended 2-0 for the hosts with both goals being scored in the second half.
To make things even worse, midfielder Diego Perez was sent off with three minutes remaining and he will be unable to play against Milan.
Pulzetti will be the one replacing Perez in the midfield, while influential offensive midfielder Diamanti will be the one supporting Acquafresca in front, in an attempt to score their first goal of the season.
In a late attempt to consolidate their squad after a quiet transfer campaign, Bologna is set to sign 30 year old striker Floccari from Lazio for 4.5m euros.
AC Milan
AC Milan was the victim of the first shock in Seria A this season after losing at Sansiro against newly promoted Sampdoria.
As expected the Rossoneri were far from their best and despite hitting the woodwork twice in the last half an hour trough Mario Yepes and Kevin-Prince Boateng, Milan showed too less to deserve anything from that match.
By losing their two best players Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, Milan lost a lot of quality and their fans are preparing themselves for a disappointing season.
Milan tried to make up to their disillusioned fans by signing Nigel De Jong and Bojan Krkic, but it’s unlikely to see them this weekend against Bologna.
The Betting Verdict
Bologna have won their last three home games in Seria A, but they hold a poor record against Milan, the Rossoneri have not lost any of their last 7 games here.
Allegri will have a tough job creating a competitive team this season, it will be difficult for them to keep up with an impressive Juventus side that kept improving their squad during the summer transfer market.
Winning on the road in Seria A is always a challenge and from what I’ve seen from Milan in the first round I would be surprised to see them win this clash.
Bologna scored at least one goal in each of their last nine home games in Seria A and I expect them to do it again against a vulnerable Milan side, but that might not be enough to beat a Rossoneri side that has a solid head to head record against them.
