Pandurii is the surprising leader in Liga 1, they’ve managed to keep up their good form from the beginning of the season and they are now three points above second placed Steaua.
Petre Grigoras’ team suffered a lot on their previous match against newly promoted CSMS Iasi, it’s well known that Pandurii usually doesn’t perform as well on the road as they do at home, but thanks to a 94th minute goal they’ve secured three important points.
Pandurii has shown great strength at home so far scoring at least three goals in each game. Despite playing against former champions Otelul Galati, Rapid is probably better than the three teams that travelled to Targu Jiu in the earlier stages.
Rapid Bucuresti
Rapid was the performer of the previous stage, they’ve made a sensational comeback against CFR Cluj at home and managed to collect three points against all odds.
CFR had a 2-0 advantage and Rapid was playing in 10 men, but somehow the club from the capital scored three goals in the second half to secure their second win of the season.
Rapid is among the three unbeaten teams from Liga 1 so far (Pandurii and Dinamo are the other two), but they are yet to win an away game this season after recording two draws against Otelul and Petrolul.
The Betting Verdict
Rapid is always struggling when playing away from home and missing some key players for this match against the leaders should make the game even more difficult for them.
Central defender Oros has been sent off against CFR and will have to serve a suspension, right back Rui Duarte and striker Ilijoski are both injured.
Pandurii should take advantage of this fact and I expect them to dominate the game as they usually do when playing at home. I will back Pandurii to continue their superb form and to consolidate their position on the top of the Liga 1 table.
