Juventus starts their title defence against Parma looking to carry on their good form towards the end of last season. Juventus already lifted a silverware before the season began by beating Napoli in the Italian Super Cup. They had to come from behind to win it 4-2 but they also had a good pre-season with wins over the likes of Malaga and Milan.
Juventus were distracted in midweek due to the appeal hearings for Antonio Conte, Leonardo Bonucci and Simone Pepe whick took place, with the players free to feature this season. However, Conte's 10 month ban was upheld, whih means that Massimo Carrera will need to select the players he has available to him. The likes of Captain Gianluigi Buffon sits out due to a thigh muscle complaint, with Giorgio Chiellini, Martin Caceres, Mauricio Isla and Pepe also missing out.
Parma last season ended on a high managing to win eight of their last nine games to finish in eight spot. However, Roberto Donadoni’s men finished just two points outside of European qualification. Their pre-season was a bag of mixed results with wins over Real Sociedad and Panionios but a 4-1 defeat to Palermo overshadowed those wins.
Interestingly, Parma have lost Sebastian Giovinco to Juventus, whoc will feature against them in this match but Colombian Dorlan Pabon has been hailed by President Tommaso Ghirardi as the most important signing of his reign. Meanwhile, Ex-Juve striker Amauri will hope to have the same impact as he did last season when he scored seven goals in 11 matches.
Parma will not have the services of Nicola Sansone and Raffaele Palladino as they are out injured. Meanwhile, Daniele Galloppa is suspended.
For the record, last season Juventus won this clash 4-1, and that was their 12th victory over Parma in 20 meetings. Parma have won on just three visits, which included a 4-1 win over Gigi Del Neri's Juventus just two seasons ago.
