Barcelona have not stumbled yet, winning both their opening games to take maximum points. Messi has gotten straight back to his scoring ways, netting 4 times already to lead the goalscoring chart at this early stage.

There has been a blip though, as Barcelona suffered a loss to Madrid in midweek. They've want that taste out of their mouth fast, but they will need to work hard tonight as Valencia won't be lying down for them.

The Supercopa 1-0 loss will have been very annoying for the Catalans. Barcelona had started well, winning 5-1 at home against Sociedad before slipping past Madrid 3-2 at home in the Supercopa. That was blown while the La Liga stayed on track with a narrow 2-1 win away at Osasuna.

What is encouraging is that Valencia did get turned over 5-1 on their last visit here, last season, in February. There was also another game that same month that ended 2-0 to Barcelona, so I feel the win could come by more than just a goal.

What makes this game dangerous is the fact that Barcelona are playing straight after a setback, which changes the mentality of the players. Messi now has 6 goals this season, including the 4 league goals, and adding to that should be a sure thing at home. Keep an eye out for bets including him getting on the scoresheet, as they are offered everywhere in tempting selections.

Puyol remains the main doubt for this game, but it should not affect the selection at all.

BETTING VERDICT

I'm going to go with Barcelona on the AH here. I think they will win by more than just 1, so with the push on our side, take the Catalans to cover the 2 ball handicap at even money.
