PREVIEW
Miami have now lost both games of this series to Atlanta, going down 2-1 yesterday as they were stifled by the Braves. The Marlins have a great chance at avoiding a sweep though, as the Braves pitcher for tonight is one of the most hittable in MLB.
The Atlanta Braves send out southpaw Mike Minor. He is 2-4 but with a 6.98ERA that does not paint a true picture of how terrible he really is at the moment. His first 3 starts saw him compile a 3.10ERA, so to get to 6.98 overall he has had to pitch really badly. In fact, no one has allowed more home runs than Minor, who has been hit deep 13 times already. His last start saw him allow the lowscoring Washington Nationals 4 runs in 5 innings.
Miami counter with a leftie of their own, Mark Buehrle. He is 5-5 with a 3.53ERA, but is a trustworthy pitcher, always reliable to concentrate when fresh off a bad start. His last start was one of them, allowing 4 earned runs in 5 innings against Philadelphia. That was on the road though, and at home I trust him to do better. He has not issued a walk in 2 starts now, which is a good sign, as it means Atlanta will have to really work to score against him.
Minor has a 1-2 road record with a 7.27ERA, so I expect him to get hammered a bit by the Marlins, who have been held to just 1 run in the first 2 games of this series. Remember, Miami scored 19 runs in the 4 games prior to this series, so we know what they can do against weak pitching.
Buehrle is 3-1 at home with a 3.38ERA and has already recorded a win over Atlanta this term. He looks the play here.
