The Cardinals have slumped a fair bit recently, losing 5 games on the trot before finally snapping out of it with a 5-4 win over the New York Mets. They are in town to face the Houston Astros, and I have a feeling we will see some runs. The last 7 meetings have all gone over.
The Cardinals have Jaime Garcia on the mound. He has a 3-3 mark with a 3.78ERA but has not pitching since allowing 4 runs against the Phillies. Since then he has missed a start with elbow trouble but will start this game as MRI scans showed no damage. Garcia still might not be 100% though, and that could cause trouble. Against Houston, he has not fared well anyway, with a 0-4 record in 6 starts with a 6.89ERA!
Lucas Harrell goes for the Houston Astros. He has a 4-4 record this term with a 4.71ERA but is off a horrendous start. In 5 innings, Colorado managed 10 hits off him and he gave up 9 runs! Harrell gave up 4 runs in 5 innings this term against the Cardinals and got the win, but he looks shaky, and they have already faced him, meaning they could well score off him again.
Behind both these pitchers come weak bullpens that will not be able to shut down the opposing offence. Over the last 10 games or so, both relief corps have ERAs over 5.00, which just isn't god enough to trust to keep scoring down.

Both teams are good for 4 runs, at least, so we can go with the Over 8.5 here and enjoy.
