You know me, always betting on the Cardinals. But I really think this is a great value price to go against them. The champs started the season in hot form but that has certainly cooled in recent games. They have now lost 5 of their last 7 matches, and have split their last 26 games. Also, they are now on the road tonight, against the team with MLBs best record, against a pitcher that has yet to lose.
This is going to be a pitchers duel. Both teams are missing their top offensive threats. Beltran, who has 13 homers and 28 runs for the Cards is injured while Kemp will not be adding to his 12 homers and 29 runs for the Dodgers. On the mound for the 2 teams are 2 of the best pitchers in the NL.
The Cardinals have Lance Lynn pitching for them tonight. He is 6-1 with a 1.81ERA and is off his first loss of the season, giving up 3 runs in 6 innings to the Braves. He's never pitched against the Dodgers, which is an advantage for him, but the opposing pitcher is no chump.
The Dodgers have Ted Lilly on the hill. He is 5-0 with a 2.11ERA. He has faced the Cards before, starting 14 games against them and going 7-3 with a very reliable 2.85ERA against them. The Dodgers will badly want to beat the reigning champions today, as the Cards are 13-9 when visiting them in recent games, well since 2005.
Los Angeles snapped a 2 game losing streak with a convincing 8-1 beating of San Diego yesterday, and back at home they will be more confident as they have an ace pitching and they are also 16-4 when at Dodger Stadium.
