PREVIEW
At 19-17 this is not a bad Miami Marlins side at all, and they are hotting up too, with a .500 road record at 10-10 and winners of 11 of their last 14 overall. Atlanta are 23-14 and come into this having just split their 2 games with the Cincinnati Reds.
The Miami Marlins go with Mark Buehrle, who is 2-4 with a 2.81ERA. I have faith in him, as his work has been consistent, allowing 2 runs or less in 5 of his 7 starts. He hasn't had the wins because of the Marlins not scoring much at all in the early games but as they have hotted up they have given him the run support and he has won his last 2 starts, with the team churning out 10 runs to help, not that he needed that much. Buehrle has a 2-0 record against Atlanta in 2 starts, with a good 3.21ERA.
The Braves counter with Mike Minor. Despite the 2-2 record, the southpaw is 6.59ERA, thanks to run support, which he might not receive today. His last 3 starts have seen him give up 21 runs, 7 a game on average, in just 16 innings. He's struggling to control his pitches, resulting in homers and a lot of walks. His last 3 games have seen him walk 7 batters and tagged for 7 homers. The head-to-head does not help here either, as he has a 6.46ERA in 3 career starts against Miami.
Atlanta's pitching has not been solid at home, allowing 4.73 per game, significantly more than the 3.15 Miami are giving up on the road. Look at the prices. Atlanta have recently hammered the Cardinals in their series and are at home, yet despite being favs, Miami are hardly above even money. That is not a proper dog price. Atlanta are a public side and so will be the shorter price, but Miami is the pick here.
