Cleveland are now 17-11 for the season on the back of a very impressive run, winning 8 of their last 11 matches. Half those wins have come against the Chicago White Sox, who are on a 3 game losing streak to sit at 13-17. Yesterday these two teams played a double header, with Cleveland winning both. The first ended 8-6 and the other 3-2. They're back at it today, and I can only see one winner. Cleveland.

Cleveland will send out Justin Masterson, who is 1-2 with a 5.20ERA. Mastersons numbers are misleading, as he started the season with some tough outings. If we look only at the current form, he is actually performing really well. His last 2 starts have both resulted in wins for Cleveland, and he has struck out 11 batters in almost 15 inning of work, giving up just 5 runs. I see his ERA dropping further and further to make up for those 3 bad starts he began the season with, as he is actually off a season with a 3.21ERA last year!

In head-to-head, Masterson has done well against Chicago, owning a solid 2.46ERA over more than 80 innings of work. He will no doubt be confident coming into this one and so should we. Masterson has already faced Danks, the White Sox pitcher he is up against today, this season, and has a win over him as Danks struggled.

The White Sox starter John Danks is not doing well at all. He is 2-4 with a 6.51ERA and is looks a lot like last season, when he opened 0-8 in what has to be some of the worst baseball I have seen. In total, Chicago lost 10 of his first 11 starts, and he is showing the same form this season again, with 4 losses already.

As I said, Cleveland have already faced Danks, twice actually. Both times he has taken a beating. He has pitched just over 12 innings against Cleveland and given up 11 runs on 16 hits, walking 6 batters!

BETTING VERDICT

Cleveland are winners of 3 straight games, and 6 of their last 7. Chicago have lost 3 straight and have dropped 6 of their last 7 matches. This is a full blown slump and I am ready to bet against them with Danks likely to blow the game wide open early.
