2012-05-01 - Liverpool F.C vs Fulham
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Match Preview :
A place in the FA Cup Final to face Chelsea is what is at stake for the Liverpool players who feature tonight as Kenny Dalglish is set to give his players a last audition for a place in Saturday's FA Cup final team when Fulham visit Anfield.
Liverpool's season has been poor by their standards and the best they can now hope for is to finish seventh in the Premiership. Since beating Everton in the FA Cup semi finals on 14th April the Reds thoughts has been on a second domestic Cup final appearance since winning the Carling Cup.
And Dalglish has reminded his players they have a chance to submit their 'CVs' ahead of facing Chelseaon Saturday at Wembley and no doubt they will be keen to impress against Fulham tonight. Dalglish is also likely to rotate his side due to avoid the risk of injury.
Fulham comes into this match with a good season behind them and will not simply let Liverpool get the win over them however. Martin Jol returns to the bench after missing their last clash with a chest infection, has steered his side to the top half of the Premiership.
And with three league games of the season remaining, Fulham could yet finish above a Liverpool squad containing more than £80million investment from last summer.
However, the omens are not good for Fulham as they prepare their second game in Merseyside in four days, after a 0-4 thumping at Everton and the fact that Fulham have never won a Premier League game at Anfield, failing to score in their last five.
But Fulham have only suffered defeat on two occasions in the last five overall league fixtures with Liverpool, who don't seem to be playing well at home right now after winning just once in their last seven home games in the Premiership.
Team News :
Liverpool Team News :
Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has recovered from a minor groin complaint which caused him to miss the clash against Norwich and is ready for selection. There are likely to be changes with the FA Cup Final just four days after facing Fulham.
Fulham Team News :
Andy Johnson is a doubt for Fulham's after he missed Saturday's 4-0 thrashing at Everton with an adductor injury and will not be risked here. Stephen Kelly also misses out, while winger Bryan Ruiz (foot), Steve Sidwell (hernia) and Zdenek Grygera (knee) are long-term absentees.
However, former Liverpool full-back John Arne Riise, who won the UEFA Champions League with the club in 2005, will likely start for Fulham on his emotional return to Anfield.
