PREVIEW
Other than pride, is there anything for Wolves to play for? They have not won in 11 games, and were relegated in their last match when they lost at home to Manchester City by a 2-0 score.
You could argue the pride angle, but surely they had the same pride to play for in recent months, when they also had Premier League survival to fight for? No, this club has shot itself in the foot and then sawn the other one off when they sacked their manager and thought it was a clever change to then appoint the man who took his orders from that very manager. I give them no chance here.
Swansea drew 1-1 at Bolton last week, but really should have done much better having taken an early lead. The Swans have a very tough match next, against Manchester United, so they need this game to get things back on track and push for a higher finish. Swansea have won just 1 of their last 6 league matches, and will want to correct that at home, where they have done well this term.
Swansea have to correct another result that they will no doubt be angry with. Earlier this season they led Wolves 2-0 before allowing them back in to grab a draw. And since we're discussing blown wins, no one has thrown away more points than Wolves, who have given away 20 points when in a position to grab wins.
Wolves are dealing with a whole host of injuries, will be demoralised and they will not match up well here in Wales, where Swansea are conceding well below a goal a game. Wolves have failed to find the net in their last 3 matches.
Swansea might have lost a few games, but that slump was always due after the way they played the first half of their season, especially at home. They have overachieved, and they were encouraging with the way they bounced back from the recent losses to thump Blackburn here 3-0.
BETTING VERDICT
Maybe I'm insulting Wolves by my selection of Swansea -1AH but that is what I shall take for even money. I had considered Swansea to win by exactly 1 goal but am put off by Wolves recent goal drought, and I feel this could end up finishing 2-0. With our money safe with a narrow win, take Swansea to cover the spread.
