I'm going to start writing this now because I don't see Boston being in any fit state for this match. You see, as I write, the New York Yankees have come from 0-9 down and have scored 15 points. It's the bottom of the 9th...

And it's all over. Boston got tonked in the opener to spoil the party and now they've really screwed things up tonight. With 17 hits, they have 1 more than the Yankees, but the New Yorkers made theirs count. Not only are the Yankees winning, 9-6 now, but they are scoring for fun. The Yankees average 6 overall, but 6.25 on the road. Boston are getting dicked to the tune of 7.12 at Fenway Park.

The Yankees send out their ace, CC Sabathia tonight. On Tuesday he got the win over Minnesota and is 1-0 with a 5.59ERA. Sabathia is 3-4 in Fenway Park and 7-9 over his career against Boston. Boston could score a few runs, but the problem is with their own pitching, which looks incapable of stopping an offence that has bashed out 11 homers in their last 3 games alone!

The Red Sox go with Daniel Bard to avoid the sweep, but he is 0-2 with a 4.63ERA. In his last game he walked 7 batters, and because he did it with the bases loaded his team lost to Tampa Bay. He owns a 4.13ERA against the Yankees. He may do well, as he did against Tampa Bay, but the big concern is the bullpen that follows him.

The Red Sox are now on a 5 game losing streak, getting outscored 46-17, which is over 9 runs surrendered per game! The bullpen got hammered for 14 runs yesterday and will be knackered. But worst of all, they will be demorialised, and have no belief at all in their ability. It's just what happens when you're in a funk.

New York is getting serious offensive production and I can't see them being quietened. Teixeira and Swisher had 6 RBIs each last night, while Ortiz went 4 for 4 and is currently batting .436 Good luck keeping them quiet over 9 innings.

BETTING VERDICT

Right, it's now Sunday evening, I've just got in so shall suggest we go with New York to win, but it has to be on the handicap just because they could easily score 10+ again.
