PREVIEW
The price on Arsenal is huge this week, and I do not understand it at all. There is a feeling of trap about it, like Manchester United's AH price last weekend against Wolves, and look how that turned out.
Everton are tough, so Arsenal should be above evens, but this a huge price for a team that is finding ways to win no matter what. A great situational bet this certainly is.
Everton had been on a run of 7 league games without defeat, but that came to a crashing halt when they went across the city to Anfield to play their hated rivals and got thumped 3-0.
Everton have not had rest since, playing a very tough game at home here to Sunderland in the FA Cup. That game ended in a 1-1 draw, which means they have to play it again away from home, and no one needs that. While Everton were toiling, Arsenal were resting. In fact, Arsenal will have had 9 days to prepare, since robbing Newcastle last Monday.
Toffees manager Moyes is a man deserving of tremendous respect for what he has achieved with the club in the last decade. However, his team just aren't scoring enough goals at home, just 15 in 14 matches.
Everton have still managed some huge wins here, over the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, and that is because they are hardly conceding, just 13 at home so far. In 6 of those games, the score has been just 1-0, the same score by which they lost at the Emirates earlier this season.
Arsenal have turned some kind of corner of late and they have won 5 straight games now. Strangely, 4 of those wins have come after going behind, a Premier League record for most wins in a row after trailing. The other was that 3-0 thrashing of Milan at the Emirates.
The last away game saw Arsenal go to Liverpool and perform a snatch and grab late to take it 2-1. Everton will have to try and keep a potent Arsenal attack quiet because the defence does not look likely to allow Everton more than 1 goal.
Van Persie is priced at well above even money, making him a value bet in the anytime market. He's scored 26 league goals already, so I would recommend you take him to net again due to the price. This would be my bet here, if it weren't for the inflated price on Arsenal, which I cannot ignore.
BETTING VERDICT
This could well end in a draw, but at prices approaching 2.50 I have to suggest you consider Arsenal to find a way to win again, because Everton have won at home against the Gunners just once in their last 6 attempts, and they are the 3rd lowest scorers too.
Arsenal have 18 goals in their last 5, so who knows...the floodgates might just open and hey, Arsenal may even score first for a change!
