Football : Italy : Seria A
Venue: Stadio San Siro, Milano
Friday 17th February – Kickoff time: 20:45 GMT+1
Inter (5th W-11 D-3 L-9)
Inter Milano is passing through an awful period, Ranieri’s man have lost 3 of their last 4 games, including a last week defeat to bottom placed Novara.
Inter’s chances of qualifying for the CL were dealt a huge blow on Sunday as Caracciolo’s strike 11 minutes into the second half earned the visitors their third victory of the season, the second against Inter.
Ivan Radovanovic’s sending-off wasn’t enough to help Inter get back in the game, even if they’ve wasted some good chances, including a Snejder shot that hit the woodwork.
The Nerazzurri will go into this match without central back Walter Samuel, the Argentine facing another week on the sidelines due to a muscle problem. Newcomer Freddy Guarin is still recovering from his calf injury, on the other hand, Maicon is available after serving his suspension last week.
Probable Inter line-up :
Maicon, Lucio, Ranocchia, Nagatomo
Zanetti,Cambiasso, Stankovic
Sneijder
Pazzini, Milito
Bologna(17th W-5 D-7 L-9)
This will be Bologna’s first game after a 12 days mini break caused by the bad weather, their games against Fiorentina and Juventus being postponed.
Unlike Inter, Stefano Pioli’s side is passing through their best period of the season, not losing a game since the 21th of December. Bologna turned out to be a team that specializes in draws, their last 4 games ending undecided.
After managing to bring points from San Paolo (Napoli) and Olimpico (AS Roma) and with two games more to play, Bologna are 4 points clear of the 18th placed Lecce.
Bologna will travel to San Siro without Nico Pulzetti, who is still ruled out due to an injury, but Panagiotis Kone is set to return the squad after recovering from a muscle strain.
Probable Bologna line-up :
Raggi, Portanova, Antonsson
Garics, Perez, Mudingayi, Morleo
Ramirez, Taidei
Di Vaio
The Betting Verdict
Inter is still in involved in the UCL, but if they’ll continue to play like they did against Lecce and Novara their season may fall apart and they’ll lose everything they worked for in the first part of the season.
Those two defeats against teams that are fighting to avoid relegation and the 4-0 trashing by AS Roma may have affected the players confidence, so they need to win this game more than ever, but Bologna will be a tough one to crack.
Inter has some good stats against Bologna, having won 9 of their last 10 matches against them in all competitions, but what stands out for me is that Bologna only failed to score in one of their last six away games, so it’s fair to assume that they’ll be successful at least once in their attempts against a shaky defense that will miss Samuel.
