Lazio comes into this match after a defeat in their last match but still chasing the Champions League spot.
Lazio were beaten 3-2 by Genoa in their last match, and it was Lazio first defeat against Genoa since 1992 and Lazio felt a sense of injustice in that match.
Lazio's appeals to postpone that match was rejected and they were also restricted from training in the three days prior to the match. Their cause was also not helped by the fact that Hernanes was injured in the warm-up and Tommaso Rocchi and Marius Stankevicius went off injured.
Therefore, it seems that for tonight's match, Edy Reja may struggle to name a full team of 18 players for the matchday squad. Through injury and suspension they are without nine first team players for this match.
That means that Lazio is likely to field Stefan Radu at centre-back even though he still needs to rest a knee injury and look to Hernanes to start even though he is still uncertain to also be 100% fir for this match.
Cesena meanwhile comes into this match without a win in their last three games and above all it showed last weekend that they cannot rely on results elsewhere to help them. Their match was a victim to the poor weather and they saw the four sides immediately around them all pick up at least a point last weekend. Their draw meant that they are just four points to safety now.
Cesena can at least look to field their arrivals in January in this clash. Vincenzo Iaquinta could be in line for an appearance whilst Mario Santana is likely to also make his debut. However, Vangelis Moras’ injury is the one that is of concern as it could hold most of their decisions in their side. Without the winter arrival or indeed fellow centre-back Steve Von Bergen, Daniele Arrigoni is understood to be considering a change in formation from a 3-5-2 to a 4-4-2 that the Coach has started with the club.
Both clubs have been unable to train on their regular pitches this week due to the weather and the game could still be risked being postponed.
