Match Preview :
This relegation six pointer is where Bolton will aim to beat Wolves and finish 2011 on a high.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle has gone on record to state that this will be the "biggest game of the season" for his second-bottom side. The home side have only won nine league matches in the calendar year and a poor return of 12 points in their 18 games this season has left Bolton facing a battle to avoid relagation.
As it stands now, four points separate them from safety - with Saturday's visitors Wolves currently occupying the all-important 17th spot. In recent months, playing on home soil has been no advantage to Owen Coyle's side as they have lost 10 of their last 11 top-flight games at the Reebok.
Meanwhile, this could also be a farewell appearance for England defender Gary Cahill, who looks set to leave Bolton in the January transfer window. Cahill has been linked with a move to several Premier League big-boys, with Chelsea seemingly in the hot seat after the Stamford Bridge club agreed a fee for the 26-year-old on Friday.
As for Wolves, they will be going into this tie confident after holding Arsenal to a 1-1 draw, which was also their first point against the Gunners. Getting a win here is important for Mick McCarthy's side as well. As it is now, they sit over the bottom three having won just two of their last 16 Premier League games.
If Wolves get all three points here then that would move them five points clear of the drop zone and give them valuable breathing space ahead of a tough January sext of fixtures where they face Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool.
McCarthy hailed his "fabulous" players for their superb defensive display against Arsenal. But he has asked them to repeat such feat so they can take something away from this match.
Team News :
Bolton Team News :
Bolton's teenage defender Joe Riley could be involved in the thick of action after returning from a hamstring problem that caused him to miss for a month. He may replace right-back Dedryck Boyata, with Sam Ricketts also set to come in for Paul Robinson on the other flank. That would mean that Ricketts would be making his first start since February when he ruptured an Achilles at Wigan in the FA Cup.
Owen Coyle could make changes in attack with Tuncay and Kevin Daviesboth pressing for a start ahead of Ivan Klasnic and David Ngog.
Wolves Team News :
Wolves midfielder Nenad Milijas will start a three-match ban for his red card against Arsenal. Milijas, whose appeal against the red card was rejected by the Football Association, could be replaced by Dave Edwards if he has shaken off the illness which caused him to miss the clash against Arsenal.
Full-back Ronald Zubar is a major doubt with the knee injury suffered against Arsenal and his place is likely to be replaced with Richard Stearman.
