PREVIEW
December has seen Manchester City lose it's first game of the season, and they dropped more points over the festive period, being held goalless at West Brom. Alex Ferguson has overseen the perfect response to that humiliating thrashing they received not long ago, and his team have actually pulled level with City on points.
Credit to United, who have seized the opportunity and won each of their last 2 games by a 5-0 score, and their goal difference is now just 5 behind their hated neighbours. Enough motivation here to not just beat Blackburn, but bury them.
Blackburn grabbed a very precious point on Boxing Day, as they once again led a game but finished without a win. At Anfield, that is a great result, but I feel they will come out flat here instead of encouraged. I think they know what they will be in for after watching United take apart their last two opponents.
It is scary to think United thumped their recent opponents while playing a team that did not start the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, Jones and Smalling. All of them look likely to be back for this one, while there will be absences for their visitors.
Blackburn have serious doubts over goalkeeper Paul Robinson being fit for this one, while there are also question marks over defenders Gael Givet, Ryan Nelsen and Martin Olsson. Scott Dann is definitely out for at least another month, and you fear there is a chance this team could let in a lot of goals. Indeed, last season's match at Old Trafford finished 7-1 to United!
BETTING VERDICT
Manchester United are this weeks bankers, in my opinion. I would use them to padd out accumulators and for a main bet am going to suggest getting on them to score a bunch as they look to bridge the goal difference.
Over 2.5 goals for Manchester United is priced down at 1.65 but if you bet on them scoring at least 4 you get a decent price that is well worth taking.
